I am passionate about helping young people (especially womxn) find their way into STEM. I was told at A level not to pursue my dreams in Physics, but instead to try to focus on humanities- just because I was a womxn. Six years later, and I am studying for a PhD at one of the top STEM universities in the world! I am determined to not let anybody be put off STEM because of their background, age, gender or race. I am a very chilled out person, I practice mindfulness, yoga and grow houseplants in my spare time.

I started tutoring 12 years ago because I realised that most students are not able to do their best in a classroom of 30 students whereas on a one to one basis and in a special need environment they are motivated and work very hard. Therefore when I tutor privately I get the pleasure of teaching all kinds of students, who are motivated and work very hard. On the other hand, sometimes I do get challenging students for whom I have to adapt my teaching methods and this develops my own teaching and learning cohort of strategies.

Having graduated with a 2.1 BA degree in English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of Hertfordshire, I have been tutoring English and Maths for four years, as well as some English Adult Learners. Having tutored a variety of children of various ages, I have been able to nurture a great diversity of teaching methods having learnt to adapt my teaching methods to the different styles of learning that inspire and engage different students, but also guiding students to think independently. I have always nurtured a very creative vision, ensuring that I am always able to make learning a fun experience in order to encourage those Eureka moments. I have strong ambition and determination in running my tutoring business, inspiring youngsters with my passion for education, ensuring children succeed to their full potential. I have strong abilities in planning and organisation, through regularly formulating lesson plans, including doing starter games. Friendly, Engaging, Approachable, flexible, Adaptable. I went travelling to South America after completing my studies. This was crucial to my development as a teacher. It enabled me to become more open minded, appreciate different cultures and exposed me to people from different backgrounds. I believe that as a result of these experiences it will enable me to have a greater empathy and understanding of the pupils and their parents individual needs. I also gained a greater interest in the environment. In particular I learnt more about environmental exploitation and changes. I feel this will be very beneficial when teaching Science, Geography and RE.

As an experienced teaching professional, I believe that demonstrating energetic, approachable and creative teaching in a supportive and nurturing environment brings out the very best of children. For me, this approach has continued to enable my pupils to have a growth mind-set and try a variety of techniques and tools to help make conscious learning choices that they can transfer across disciplines. It also gives demonstrable results. As class teacher and Faculty Leader I have raised achievements in English, Maths and Art and have embedded and sustained best practice in my roles. I offera substantial bank of skills, knowledge and personal attributes, together with extensive experience of working with children that haveEAL and SEN. I am an ambitious teacher providing differentiated innovative activities and enjoyment in a varied learning environment, to ensure each pupil achieves their full potential and their young minds are inspired during their learning journey.Whilst the teaching environment is undoubtedly one that teaches educators as much as it does pupils, I am motivated and willing to ensure I continually learn new skills to support the school in every possible way.

I am a confident, committed and enthusiastic tutor, keen on building my tutees educational prospects and abilities. I am a University of Surrey Graduate, having taken a BSc in Psychology. I have been tutoring for 6 years and have had very positive reviews. I am very committed to helping my pupils and I keep up to date with the best resources to help them get the best grades. I find my pupils enjoy the sessions and look forward to the benefits of their hard work! I help in 11+ exams, including English, Maths, Non-verbal and Verbal reasoing. I focus on teaching the correct exam techniques to enable my pupils to improve their marks. This I reinforce with practice through examples, past papers and exam questions. I help my pupils analyse their mistakes and explore why certain answers are correct and gain higher marks, ensuring they have a full understanding of the subject. My previous tutoring experience allowed me to meet high expectations and deliver consistent support and learning for pupils and parents. My tutees enjoyed my effective and engaging tuition and achieved faster and greater improvement in their subjects. I tutored daily in my gap year so have a large amount of experience, from helping very young pupils aged 5 and 6 in English and Maths, to 16 and 17 year old pupils in A level Psychology. I am currently tutoring two 10 year old boys in preparation for the 11+, and a 6 year old girl. This includes verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, maths and comprehension and lots of help with spellings. Other than that I have had a wide range of pupils, I have tutored an A level student, 3 GCSE students, 4 KS3 students and 8 primary school children.

I am an aspiring teacher with a focus on supporting students through their hardest years. I believe I have a calling to work with children. From a young age I was looking after younger siblings, friend’s siblings and tried making them all my students! At the age of 14 I picked up a part time job as a gymnastics coach and spent 4 years coaching children. Being a confused and rebellious teenager meant that I dropped out of sixth form to work full time. After many years working in the hair industry, my desire to teach started again when supporting apprentices in salon. I then moved on to teach the NVQ Award in Hairdressing at Headmasters Academy in Richmond. It was there that I gained my Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Last year, I changed career and applied with an agency to be a Youth Mentor. My first placement was at Twickenham School as a Teaching Assistant which wasn't really my plan. However, I quickly fell in love with the school and the job role and so when the Head Teacher asked me to stay on full time with the school, I happily accepted. Being only 1 of few TA's with a SEN register of about 150 (and growing) there was much work to do and many students to support. I then changed job roles to work as a teaching assistant in a Primary School closer to home. Unfortunately, because of the Corona Virus outbreak, the school let go of my position alongside other agency staff. Over the Year in Schools, I have been privileged to be trained up in many skills and given the opportunity to lead on interventions with Mathematics and Literacy. Below I have listed my skill set within the SEN/Teaching Role.

I’m a final year Mechanical Engineering student on track to finish my degree with 1st class honours. After my A-levels (including Maths and Physics), I worked for a full year in industry with 3T RPD and since have undertaken engineering internships every summer with Rolls-Royce and Arup. With my experience, in industry, education and STEM outreach I have developed strong communication skills and a passion to engage students in learning about Maths and English. In my spare time I really enjoy DIY and building things around my family home, I love hands on practical work such as building, sewing and carpentry. I’ve also played Rugby Union for the last 5 years, and enjoy watching Sheffield Tigers on the weekend when I’m at university.

I have solid empathetic abilities, so I am able to relate to the needs and worries of the student, and I am considerate of their learning styles, to ensure they are able to achieve their educational goals and in order that they reach their full potential. I am able to encourage students, gaining their trust, but also able to provide constructive feedback for improvements. I focus on improvements and solutions, as opposed to problems and criticism.

I am a 19-year-old living in east London currently on a gap year before going on to study politics at Warwick University in September. I have a passion for teaching young kids, establishing my own tutoring service locally called HeadStart Revision. I specialise in maths and English for primary and secondary school children but I am an avid coder, with knowledge in python and java.
