With 30 years of professional experience as a singing and piano teacher, as well as a choral conductor in Hong Kong, I bring a wealth of knowledge, passion, and a strong sense of responsibility to music education. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1996, where I majored in voice performance and minored in piano, I have since dedicated myself to nurturing students of all ages and backgrounds through private lessons, group classes, and ensemble settings. Known for my diligent and committed approach, I have helped students achieve success in examinations, auditions, and even professional music careers. Beyond the classroom, my years of conducting church and community choirs have sharpened my communication skills and deepened my belief in the power of collaborative music-making. Further enhancing my expertise, I earned a Master of Arts in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University, equipping me with advanced pedagogical and academic skills to enrich my teaching. As a dedicated and reliable educator, I am committed to delivering high-quality classes and lessons that inspire growth, confidence, and a lifelong love for music.

About Tutor

I was born in Hong Kong. I began to have private singing lessons with Miss Esther Fung. After I entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, I have studied with Mr Michael Rippon, Dr Margreta Elkins and Dr Derek Anthony. I have graduated with an Advanced Diploma, a Professional Diploma and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Voice Performance. After that, I have received my Master of Arts in Music Education from Hong Kong Baptist University. I also obtained the L.T.C.L and F.T.C.L. of Trinity College, London. In 2013, I have finished my Master in Christian Studies (majoring in church music) at Alliance Bible Seminary and have studied choral conducting with Dr Angela Tam. In 2018, I received my doctoral degree in Worship Studies from the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies. I have participated in the opera productions of the Hong Kong Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, singing Rosalinde in Johann Stauss’ Die Fledermaus, La Baronne de Gondremack in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. I have been singing solo in Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise and different kinds of solo works with choirs of Hong Kong University, Hong Kong International Music Institute and the Bel Canto Singers. I have frequently invited to various Bible Seminaries and churches to host lectures and classes about worship, as well as choral singing and conducting. From April 2018 to January 2024, I served as the Executive Director and Director of Education (HK) for the Hong Kong Church Music Association and as the choral conductor of the HKCMA choir and HK Community Choir. I am also committed to the publication and promotion of Chinese choral music, and have served as the music editor for Alpha and Omega Publishing Company. Currently, I am a guest lecturer at Evangel Seminary, teaching Worship Studies in the Master Degree and certificate courses. From July 2024, I moved to Worcester and am currently a freelance singing and piano teacher. I am now the deputy singer of the Worcester Cathedral and one of the faculty members of the Elgar School of Music in Worcester.
